This weather is bullshit!

So this morning when I woke up it was -18F with 30-40 mph winds. Insanity! Humans are not meant to live in this type of weather.

If you have need of a reliable C# coder in North Carolina, please drop me a line.

So, starting after the new year I get to try working from home 40% of the time. Hopefully this will help with my commuter costs since I have a 38 mile one way drive to the office.

Dark Matter Developers are back

Mat McLoughlin has posted to his blog that he has recently heard the term Dark Matter Developers used in a derogatory tone. I honestly haven't heard this but there it is.

http://mat-mcloughlin.net/2013/11/26/dark-matter-developers-do-not-equal-bad-developers.html

I’VE KNOWN AND WORKED WITH PLENTY OF DARK MATTER DEVELOPERS WHO ARE INCREDIBLY GOOD AT THEIR JOBS.
Thanks Mat!

I guess I should start blogging more than once every 18 months.

Dark Matter Developers: The Unseen 99%

Scott Hansleman's recent posting about Dark Matter Developers struck a chord with me. I am one of these developers (for the most part). I haven't authored any frameworks or libraries. I don't have a huge presence on stackexchange.com and I haven't attended any conferences (yet).

What I do is work all day on  my company's C# client/server application. We don't use any ASP or web related technology, just good ol' C# and .NET Remoting.

I guess I am a little bit more active than the Dark Matter Developer described in Mr. Hansleman's post. I read lots of the technology blogs and I try to learn some of the "new" stuff. A lot of what I hope to blog about will be my experiences with trying to learn these new things.
